Jess Boulé

Hi, I’m Jess (they/them)

** As a counselling intern completing my practicum with Our Landing Place, I am restricted in the types of counselling I can offer. Please fill out this form to help me and my supervising team determine if I can support you. **

I’m a queer, gender diverse, white settler residing on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (currently known as Elora, Ontario).

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I want you to know that you don’t have to have it all figured out before we begin. As a Capricorn x Leo, I like to think that I’ll bring a mix of grounded steadiness and vibrant optimism to our sessions. I know just how messy and hard life can get, so I try to focus on slowing things down, simplifying what feels overwhelming, and looking for new possibilities when hope feels out of reach.

If you want to swear, let’s swear! I’m here for a good cathartic release, and consider humour to be powerful tool for resilience when we’re up against life’s challenges. I believe therapy should feel real and meaningful, and that starts with finding someone you can trust. This is your time, and you are the priority. You’ll bring your experiences, and I’ll bring curiousity, compassion, and a desire to understand. I’ll view you as having the best intentions, and together, we’ll build the security to explore what feels most important to you. Even if there’s awkwardness or moments where it feels like you’ve taken some missteps or wrong turns, I believe that we’ll be able to navigate them and find a way forward together.

I’ll show up to your session with some of the lessons I’ve learned from critical theorists and community leaders in anti-oppressive and trauma-informed frameworks. I think a lot about systems of power and class, so I’ll be doing my best to make our conversations relevant and approachable. I’ll also be looking to you for your guidance and feedback to know what’s resonating or not. Through storytelling and collaborative reflection, we’ll focus on your strengths and values, using them as a foundation to guide our work.

Credentials and Formal Education

I am currently completing my Master of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. Alongside my studies I work as a consultant for small businesses and health and social services. Previously, I’ve held roles as a researcher, and educator, where I focused on 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences, aging, (young) caregiving, disability, end-of-life, hoarding, health systems, and sexual health and pleasure. I’ve contributed to progam development, publications, policy, and knowledge mobilization tools - I love being part of creative change!

My areas of focus include:

  • Emotional Discernment: understanding, expressing, and regulating emotions that come with anger, anxiety, and depression.

  • Grief, Death, and Dying: navigating the complexities of loss, transitions, and end-of-life experiences.

  • Burnout and Stress: relieving the pressures of work, finances, activism, or life and uncovering all the ways in which we may try to avoid or escape the discomfort.

  • Chronic Illness and Pain: processing grief and internalized beliefs about abilities, or finding ways to adapt to a new personal normal.

  • Relationships of all Constellations: supporting relationship changes, dynamics, and conscious uncoupling.

  • Sex and Pleasure: opening up to curiosity and play, and building confidence in having the kind of sex and intimacy you crave.

As a counselling intern, I am able to provide trauma-informed counselling but not specialized trauma treatment. I am also unable to provide treatment for those experiencing active psychosis and cannot write gender affirming assessments for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and gender affirming surgery. Post-traumatic stress, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and active addiction will be considered by my clinical supervisors on a case-by-case basis to ensure I can provide an appropriate level and type of support.

Personal Interests (Outside of Therapy)

I feel most at home near water, soaking up nature, or exploring creativity through singing and dance (yes, I clog!). I love art with a message for social change – whether it’s slam poetry or a song that hits right in the feels – and I’m always curious to learn something new. Connecting with my people is where I find tender hearted joy.

If you would like to see if we would be a good fit to work together, please complete this form. Our team will be in touch to schedule a free 15-minute consultation if I am able to offer you support, or a referral to a counsellor who can support you should your current needs be outside of my scope.

Session Fee: $40 per 50-minute session (plus applicable tax).
