Information about working with a Counselling Intern
Counselling Interns have completed all academic requirements of their Master’s degrees in either Counselling Psychology or Social Work. They spend 8 months under the clinical supervision of a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor or Social Worker seeing a variety of clients within their scope. Each Counselling Intern’s scope will vary depending on their prior experience in the field of mental health as well as any limitations of their Master’s degree requirements.
One important part of the clinical supervision that each Counselling Intern receives is direct feedback about their clinical work. As such, our Counselling Interns are required to record some of their sessions to be used in their clinical supervision. When working with one of our Counselling Interns, you may be asked permission to record occasional sessions. These recordings are only viewed by the Counselling Intern and their Clinical Supervisor, and are recorded and kept in compliance with all privacy laws. You are never required to say yes to having one of your sessions recorded, and if you do agree to a recording you can revoke that consent at any time during the session.
Matching with a Counselling Intern
We use the information you provide in the form below to determine which of our counselling interns are best able to support you along your journey.
As with any of our counsellors, you will meet for a free 15-minute consultation to determine if you feel that counselling intern is a fit for you before you begin working with them.
If we determine that our interns are not able to work with you due to their scope of practice, we will offer you alternative referrals and support you in finding a great fit.
You will be contacted by our Client Care Coordinator, Nicole. Please look out from an email from admin@ourlandingplace.com.
Rates
Interns charge $40 per 50-minute session and $60 per 80-minute session.
Please note our interns are not able to write gender affirming assessments for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and gender affirming surgery.
